A little something to brighten up your Wednesday

So as I sit here at my desk working extremely hard (looking out of the window), I thought to myself how nice it would be to receive a little suprise gift in the post every month.

Eureka! A new business venture for me! I'll make millions!

Alas, I did a search and it's already being done. Drats!

Please take a look at this lovely little idea by not another bill. So quirky and cute! I love receiving my Glossyboxes every month but this is just something a little different.  You can subscribe for £15 a month and you need to choose whether the gifts will be for a boy or a girl/lady or man and then 'where you'd find them' Options include at an art gallery and at a boot sale etc. Have a little look at their website to see past presents they've sent out. I've just signed up for it and it's definately given my Wednesday a little boost :) xx

Malin & Goetz: spot BLITZER

I've always always wished that I had perfect, poreless and flawless skin.  Unfortunately, I don't.

Spots were the bane of my teenage years and well into my early 20s, and whilst I don't have a facefull anymore, I still do suffer from some stubborn and unsightly spots, usually on my chin every now and then.

So, having suffered for a good few years, I've tried a hell of a lot of products to try and acheive spot free skin. It's ranged from spot creams doing nothing at all (ahem, clearasil) to creams doing too much, i.e burning/drying my skin (never use benzyl peroxide on your skin people - regardless of the reviews, it's awful!).

Out of sheer desperation a few months ago I went to Space NK to see if there was anything that they could recommend. To be honest, I'd never been in there before because a lot of their products are actually pretty expensive. However, they gave me this...

What a little gem this has turned out to be!! This is an overnight treatment that you dab onto spots directly and in my experience it literally shrinks them to half the size or gets rid of them completely. Application is easy, you just dip a cotton wall bud into the sediment in the bottle and dab on. It doesn't sting and it doesn't try out your skin. You don't need to use much at a time so this lasts a long time too. It can be expensive retailing at £17.50 but for me, it's worth it.

Thought i'd share this with everyone, just in case like me you though you'd tried everything - give this a go and hopefully it works as well for you as it did for me!! xx

Saturday 25 August 2012

It's been a wet and windy Saturday today and the ten Cosmopolitans, copious amounts of Long Island Ice Tea and the various bottles of vino flying around last night have left me feeling well and truly broken.

What could possibly put a smile on my face??

Meet Gwen.....

Gwen is my 9 week old African Pygmy Hedgehog.  When I tell people that I have a pet hedgehog, the main reaction I get is a look of confusion and a 'why?!'.

As well as being incredibly cute to look at, Pygmy hedgehogs are so much fun and really loving pets. Gwen loves to play with her toys and it's funny to watch her pottering around. Their spikes are softer than normal hedgehogs which means you can handle them easily and without getting hurt!

How could you refuse to take this little face home :)  xx

I love love love travelling around and discovering new places. Unfortunately, most of the time i'm poor as a mouse so can't travel half as much as i'd like to.  However, pennies saved, I trotted off to Amsterdam for a long weekend with some friends in March.

I'd never been before and it was always one of those cities that I wanted to visit.  In my head, I had the somewhat stereotypical view that the only thing to experience in Dam are the renowned Coffee Shops (they are great fun and worth checking out by the way!)

I was honestly suprised at how much more Amsterdam had to offer. Stunning canal views, gorgeous little houses and absolutely fantastic pieces of street art work casually graffitied around the town really made this city shine for me.

A restuarant/bar that I really recommend going to if you ever feel like visiting is a place called Supperclub.  It's a quirky & alternative restuarant that boasts beds and pillows as a substitute for tables and chairs. They also put on entertainment for you whilst you eat. It's a place that not everyone will enjoy.. let's just say you have to be quite open minded with regards to what you might be asked to eat and the decor won't be to everyones taste...but it's a must try while you're there! Plus the waiters are a great laugh and are extremely generous with the free drinks!

Here's some little photos from my trip....

Supperclub - one of the bed  'tables'

A goregous array of fans that I found in Amsterdams flower market. So pretty!

Street Graffitti on the canal wall - amazing!
While exploring the city on a pedalo (why not hey?) we came across this amazing piece of graffiti. It's even more amazing close up. So talented!

A gorgeous view of the canals that are constantly present in Amsterdam

One of the quirky dishes served in Supperclub. A prawn cocktail starter...

A trip to Amsterdam wouldn't be complete without seeing a clog or two...!

View of Dam Square. This square is always alive with performers and horse and carriage rides.

Bikes are everywhere in Dam - hiring one and riding around town exploring is a must :)

'Croc Nail Effects'.. to buy or not to buy?

Evening bloggers!

Take a look at this gorgeous little nail paint gem!!

After trying and LOVING the 'crackle effect' polish from Barry M, I thought I'd give the croc effect a go.

How it works:

You are advised to put one coat of croc effect over a coloured varnish of your choice and then sit back and watch the pattern form.  It really is that simple!

It takes around 2 - 3 minutes for the pattern to completely emerge, and although I haven't to date ended up with a 'perfect croc effect' pattern on my nails, the result is still pretty darn impressive!

The only downside (that I find with Barry M nail varnish in particluar) is the fact that this chips very quickly. There's nothing more annoying than chipped nail varnish, especially when they look so pretty!

Overall, I would definately buy this varnish again, and with more and more colours being introduced into the range, it'd be rude not to!
What do you think guys, anyone else tried this one?

nails inc. special effects 'sweets way' review

Evening all!

So, although I love working in London, sometimes lunchtimes can get a little dull. Luckily for me I have a House of Fraser literally two doors away that I can potter around in! Great for pay day, but if you're easily tempted like me, it's dangerous!

Whilst having a look for a new nail polish (i'm loving all the special effects varnishes on offer these days) I came across this little beauty.

I'd never tried a nails inc. varnish before, always being put off by the £11 or more price tag however this one looked so pretty, I had to try!

This picture is 3 coats of 'sweets way'.  I think it's pretty and girly but also manages to be quirky at the same time and looks fantastic in the sunshine.

Other than the price tag, the only other downside is the fact that this does chip, quickly.  Even with a hefty top coat. Which, considering the price, shouldn't be an issue

Overall I love the colour but think it's slightly too pricey and it just doesn't stay on long enough. A great 'pay day splurge' though if you fancy treating yourself!

xx

A little introduction...

Evening bloggers!

A little introduction to my blog.. ahh my first post!

I'm a 25 (nearly 26 - eek!) year old girl from Essex, but not an Essex girl.

I love fashion, travelling, photography, make up, art and dancing like no one's watching. I don't claim to be good at any of these things... but I enjoy trying!

As a subscriber to Glossybox i'll be reviewing various products that I receive monthly as well as sharing pictures of my travels in and out of Essex (yes there's pretty things here too, honest!).

As an extreme lover of food, i'll also be reviewing new restuarants that I visit as well as recommending old gems. In fact, i'll waffle on about just about anything that makes me live, love and laugh.

So here goes... xoxo
